Getting to Hong Kong ferry piers with a dog
The ferry may accept your dog while the suggested train connection does not. Plan the land leg and the way home first.

| Departure area | Useful planning check |
|---|---|
| Central piers | Use the named pier: 5 for Cheung Chau, 6 for Mui Wo. Arrange a legal roadside drop-off, then walk to the entrance. |
| North Point / Sai Wan Ho | Confirm the operator and pier entrance; harbour ferry rules differ from Star Ferry. |
| Ma Liu Shui | Do not plan an ordinary MTR trip to University station with a pet. Book land transport to the correct pier and check the final return. |
| Sai Kung kaitos | Confirm the boat operator, landing point and beach restrictions before buying a return ticket. |
Make the connection work
- Save the pier name in Chinese and English and the exact entrance pin. Do not use a ferry route’s midpoint as a taxi destination.
- Leave time for pet-ticket purchase and carrier checks. Ask about return boarding and what happens if the last sailing is cancelled.
- Confirm mainland or island restaurant access separately. Kiu Tsui and Hap Mun Bay are LCSD bathing beaches, not dog-beach alternatives.
